.

Memo

Date:
To:
From:
Subject:

February 23, 2005
Mayor, City Council & Staff
John W. Meyer - Finance Director
Updates

Update - Anoka County CDBG funds for the downtown study

Great News - The Community Development staff of Anoka County along with
the Management Committee of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority have
recommended approving $75,000 of our grant request (see attachment) for the
downtown study. On February 22, 2005, the full Anoka County Housing and
Redevelopment Authority Board will be conducting a public hearing on the
Management Committee recommendations and taking the appropriate action to
finalize the grant selection process.

Update - State Bonding Bill Request for Local Share of CSAH 14 Improvements

I formalized our request to our local legislators to sponsor a bill for the local share
of the CSAH 14 improvements and the local match for the transportation
enchantment grant. This bill should be popping up on the legislative "radar
screen" soon. The next step in the process will be to monitor the bill's progress.

Update - Sales Tax Exemption

To better match the schedule of the development of the joint police station, I
have also requested that the effective date of the sales tax exemption for the
construction of the joint police station be as soon as possible. Currently, the bill's
effective date is July 1, 2005.
