<br />CITY OF CENTERVll.LE <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 64 <br /> <br />An Addition to CenterviJle City Code, Section 306. <br />Pawnbrokers and Secondhand Goods Dealers. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City ofCenterville does hereby ordain: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of Centerville hereby adding Section 64-306, Pawnbrokers and <br />Secondhand Goods Dealers, to the City Code, <br /> <br />Section - Pawnbrokers and Secondhand Goods Dealers <br /> <br />306.01 <br /> <br />Definitions. As used in this section, the following terms are defined as follows: <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Subd. 1. Pawnbroker. A person engaged in whole or in part in the business of <br />lending money on the security of pledged goods left in pawn, or in the business of <br />purchasing tangible personal property to be left in pawn on the condition that it may be <br />redeemed or repurchased by the seller for a fixed price within a fixed period of time, <br /> <br />Subd. 2. Secondhand Goods Dealer. A person engaged in the business of buying <br />or selling secondhand goods of any kind (excluding motor vehicles), but not including <br />used goods and merchandise taken as part or full payment for new goods and <br />merchandise. <br /> <br />Subd. 3. Pawn Shop. The location at which or premises in which a pawnbroker <br />regularly conducts business, <br /> <br />Subd.4. Pawn Transaction. Any loan on the security of pledged goods or any <br />purchase of pledged goods on the condition that the pledged goods are left with the <br />pawnbroker and may be redeemed or repurchased by the seller for a fixed price within <br />a fixed period oftime. <br /> <br />Subd. 5, Person. An individual, partnership, corporatiqn, limited liability company, <br />joint venture, trust, association, or any other legal entity, however organized. <br /> <br />Subd 6. Pledged Goods. Tangible personal property other than chooses in action, <br />securities, bank drafts, or printed evidence of indebtedness, that are purchased by, <br />deposited with, or otherwise actually delivered into the possession of a pawnbroker in <br />connection with a pawn transaction. <br /> <br />306.02 <br /> <br />License Required. No person shall exercise, carry-on, or be engaged in the trade <br />
