Grant which would help to fund a local paved trail through La Motte Park to connect to the County's regional trail. A brief discussion was held on the lake property owned by Gary Barott. Mr. Barott currently owns a small cottage, and a six-unit apartment building directly west of Main Street prior to where the roadway turns north. Mr. Barott has indicated that he would like to sell these properties as soon as possible, and has been negotiating with Anoka County for the last six months. The county is also interested in purchasing the Berg cottage two lots north of the Barott properties. Jim March stated that he has spoken with the Anoka County Engineer, and has asked them to hold off on the purchasing, so that the City could list the County's funds as leverage for the Natural and Scenic Area Grant. The discussion also touched on the intersection of Main Street and Goiffon Road. The possibilities included a 90-degree turn, aT - Stop intersection, or a gradual curve. Tim Rehbine questioned if any of the task groups were currently working on the snowmobile trails. Some discussion was held on what Lino Lakes does with their trails, and committee member Rehbine suggested the city designate snowmobile trails separate from bike/walking trails. Tim Rehbine requested that a note be put in Wayne Leblanc's mail slot in regards to this issue. Tim Rehbine also requested that Wayne Leblanc receive a copy of the Economic Development Committee's meeting minutes. There was some discussion on an article distributed by Tim Rehbine called, "Put the Porch Out Front". The article serves, as an idea for Centerville because it creates the opportunity for single family homes, or for somebody that does not want a town home. The article suggested neighborhoods with smaller lots, and other areas open. Among other benefits, this would create shorter streets, and a strong sense of neighborhood closeness. The issue of debris was also discussed. Tim Rehbine stated that the ordinances are already here, and they need to be enforced. The residentslbusinesses with clutter and debris are the ones that we should be trying to get on "the team" in hopes that they would be encouraged to keep things looking nice. Paul Montain stated that the placement and access of dumpsters in certain areas of the city do look bad. Mr. Montain also stated that we need to create a better sense of civic awareness for this issue. Jim March stated that the city is aware of this issue, and as new businesses come in, they are made aware of it also. Mr. March explained that before Terminal Truck Maintainance received their Certificate of Occupancy, that a screen had to be placed around their dumpster. There was a brief discussion on the issue of signing in the city, and Jim March explained the current sign ordinance. Jim March stated that occasionally the County will come through town and remove any unauthorized sign from the city or County property. Mr. March suggested filing a complaint on any sign that continuously appears. Tim Rehbine commented that the signs have no curb appeal for the city.
