Certified licensed Professional <br />Engineer. <br /> <br />Professional Experience <br /> <br />3M <br />Software, Electronic, Mechanical, Systems Technology Center, St. Paul, MN <br />Technical Manager February 1992 to Present <br /> <br />Research, design, develop, and commercialize a variety of analog and digital embedded systems for <br />different markets by working in the Software, Electronics, and Mechanical Systems (SEMS) corporate <br />research laboratory that supports all divisions within the company. <br />· Currently commercializing battery powered positive air pressure respirator products. Responsible <br />for all electrical aspects of the products and the compliance of them to regulatory standards <br />including UL913 intrinsic safety requirements. <br />· Creating and testing several 915MHz Balanced to Unbalanced (BALUN) signal converters for Radio <br />Frequency Identification (RFID) antenna research. <br />· Six Sigma Green Belt, and Design for Six Sigma trained and utilizing tools learned on current <br />projects. <br />· Investigated a field display timing issue with a medical sterilization system and implemented a field <br />update solution that did not require extensive FDA re-certification. <br />· Implemented a complex existing analog circuit into a commercialized snowplow guidance system. <br />Developed the sensing system then designed and developed the multi-faceted operator interface. <br />· Prototyped, developed, and implemented an analog power control system for Lithium Polymer <br />Battery experimental battery cycling. This required charging and discharging of the batteries <br />through voltage, current, or power control. <br />· Improved and commercialized a connecting and power management circuit board for an embedded <br />Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system for an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) project. <br />· Combined different wired and optical data transmission and computer interface methods for <br />Medical Imaging Systems Division. <br />· Tested, qualified, and approved 3M specified changes to PCMCIA PG-Card products including <br />modems, hard drive cards, and flash memory cards. <br />· Aided in the manufacture and testing of Re-writable Optical Disks and was significantly involved <br />with the facilities IS09000 qualification. <br />Results: Have filed several Records Of Invention. Was nominated for corporate Technical Circle of <br />Excellence award two times. Several of the teams have fully commercialized and sold several million <br />dollars of products to external customers. <br />
