City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />October 14, 2009 <br />After discussion the City Council consensus was to direct Staff to contact the resident <br />stating that the current policy will remain unchanged. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Consider Proposal for Contract Extension with Waste Management <br /> <br />City Administer Larson reviewed the current 2009 rates, the proposed rate for the 2010 <br />reduction, as well as reviewing the 2% increase in 2011 and 3% increase in 2012. He <br />noted htat even with the increases, 2011 would still be less than the current cost. He also <br />stated the new contract includes an adjustment for fuel and recycling material, the latter <br />being a 50% share between the City and Waste Management. <br /> <br />The City Council discussed the structured discounts. Concerns were noted in regard to <br />the shared rate on recycling material. City Administer Larson stated the normal rate that <br />Waste Management proposes is an 80% share, explaining that a 50% share is very <br />reasonable. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council Member <br />Fehrenbacher, to approve the Optional Contract Extension of Waste Management <br />as presented. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPDATES <br /> <br />1. City Administrator, Dallas Larson <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson reported that the Joint Powers Agreement has been approved <br />between Lino Lakes and Anoka County on the interchange. He stated bids are expected <br />to be received on November 16, 2009, and construction could start by the end of the year. <br /> <br /> <br />2.City-wide Good Turn <br /> <br />Mayor Capra reported the City is moving forward with the City Wide Good Turn. She <br />stated it would be held the first week in November, and details will follow on how to <br />participate. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Adopt a Light Pole for the Holidays <br /> <br />Mayor Capra reported on the Adopt a Light Pole fundraiser for the Cub Scouts. She <br />stated any citizen or business that would like to purchase a wreath for the Main Street <br />light poles could contact City Hall Staff for details. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Future Agenda Discussion <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard Vickers requested a future discussion on the nonconforming <br />issue of downtown, given the current state.
