City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> October 28, 2009 <br /> Dr. Paul Stremick appeared to give updates to the City Council. He presented a brief <br /> report on District results in math and reading noting that Centennial School District ranks <br /> highest in the State. He reviewed challenges within the District as well as highlights and <br /> accomplishments. He also reviewed the general fund budget and the fund balance noting <br /> the importance of voting to renew the existing operating levy, which will be on the <br /> November 3, 2009 ballot. <br /> Councilmember Paar encouraged voting residents to view the school website, review <br /> questions regarding the levy, and then make an educated decision in which to vote on. <br /> Mayor Capra noted the website address as: www.isdl2.org. <br /> Councilmember Fehrenbacher questioned Dr. Paul Stremick about what would happen if <br /> the levy were not to pass. <br /> Dr. Paul Stremick replied that cuts would occur at all levels in the District including <br /> teachers, staff, materials /textbooks, and possible closure of facilities. <br /> VII. OLD BUSINESS <br /> 1. Main Street Speed Study <br /> City Attorney Glaser stated Staff recommends that the City Council table the Main Street <br /> speed study due to the City not having the equipment necessary to perform a study. It <br /> was also recommended not to ask the State for a speed study until further data is received <br /> from the Police Department. <br /> The City Council discussed delaying the Main Street speed study. It was the consensus <br /> of the Council, at the recommendation of Staff, to delay the study until the spring. <br /> VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1. Committee /Commission Liaison Appointments <br /> The City Council discussed Committee /Commission liaison appointments. It was the <br /> consensus of the Council to appoint the following: Councilmember Broussard Vickers to <br /> Planning and Zoning for the months of November and December, Councilmember Love <br /> to the Park and Recreation Board, and Councilmember Fehrenbacher to CLPD Governing <br /> Board for the month of December. <br /> It was also noted that City Council would review Committee /Commission liaison <br /> appointments in December for January 2010. <br /> Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Love to appoint <br /> Councilmember Broussard Vickers to Planning and Zoning for the months of <br /> November and December, Councilmember Love to the Park and Recreation Board. <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br />
