Mr. Nyberg commented it <br /> would be less expensive to incorporate in a work order change than to separately request the <br /> project. <br /> Mr. Nyberg suggested discussing the Peltier Lake Drive Public Informational Meeting. Mayor <br /> Wilharber explained it wasn't on the agenda and some residents may want to be present, he <br /> recommends placing it on the next agenda. <br /> Mr. Nyberg commented the Council had discussed putting in sidewalks on Mill Road. If the <br /> Council is still taking this under consideration, he would suggest holding off on seal coating Mill _,. <br /> Road. Mayor Wilharber explained there had been discussion to put in sidewalks on Mill Road. <br /> Based off the residents input and the associated costs the city decided to wait. Mayor Wilharber <br /> concluded by adding the Mill Road addition to the seal coat project. <br /> MOTION by Councilmember Helmbrecht, seconded by Councilmember Buckbee to approve the <br /> 1997 Seal Coat Project including the Mill Road addition. Also, have the Engineer and staff work <br /> together as per the letter dated April 3, 1997. Motion carried. <br /> Union Contract - <br /> Mr. March explained the public work employees voted to approve the union contract that was <br /> presented to them by their union agent. However, there are still a few changes that were not <br /> incorporated in the final document that had been requested previously. <br /> Councilmember Buckbee asked "What will the wage increase to ?" Mr. March replied $12.50 per <br /> hour. Councilmember Buckbee confirmed about a two - dollar raise per hour. Councihnember <br /> Helmbrecht asked "What about the insurance benefits and if the employee elects not to take the <br /> insurance do they still receive the sum amount ?" Mr. March explained the insurance agreement. <br /> (EXHIBIT B). <br /> Councilmember Buckbee asked "Could an employee work for a specified amount of time prior to <br /> receiving deferred compensation ?" Mr. March explained it is a flat fee across the board showing <br /> no partiality toward one employee or another. Councihnember Helmbrecht asked "How many <br /> paid vacation days are in the contract ?" Mr. March explained there are ten vacations days in the <br /> contract which has been the policy. <br /> MOTION by Councilmember Buckbee, seconded by Councilmember Brenner to approve the <br /> union contract and insurance packet as recommended by Jim's memo dated April 4, 1997. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Garbage Contract - <br /> Mr. March met with Greg Hellings to discuss drafting the specification document that would <br /> allow the city to issue a request for proposals from other waste haulers. Further, The current <br /> contract with United Waste expires on May 8, 1997. United Waste has indicated a willingness to <br /> extend the contract.
