PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS: <br /> Councilmember Powers - Rasmussen explained she had been approached by a Police Officer <br /> because of the traffic concerns on 20th and Main Street. Councilmember Powers - Rasmussen <br /> requested a pedestrian walk be placed at the intersection. Mayor Wilharber suggested sending a <br /> letter to Anoka County requesting a safety study on the intersection and perhaps it's time for <br /> traffic Lights. <br /> MOTION by Mayor Wilharber seconded by Councilmember Powers- Rasmussen to direct staff — - <br /> to write a letter to Anoka County requesting a safety study be completed for traffic lights and a <br /> pedestrian walk way on 20th and Main. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Police Contract - - <br /> Councilmember Buckbee questioned the status of the Police Contract. Mayor Wilharber <br /> commented, on April 2, at 4:00 P.M., Joel Heckman, Jim March, MaryJo and himself <br /> plan to sit down and discuss what can be done. Mayor Wilharber is considering proposing 24 <br /> hour coverage and a part-time Community Service Officer (CSO). Further, if a new public works <br /> building is built, the city can designate a parking area for a police car. <br /> Mayor Wilharber asked Officer Ron Nelson, "Is there any other issues the city should be aware <br /> of'?" Officer Nelson suggested the snowmobile issue be addressed before next winter. Mayor <br /> Wilharber mentioned the snowmobile trails that are usually used won't be available much longer <br /> with the new development. <br /> Peltier Lake Dam - - <br /> Councilmember Buckbee spoke to Steve Marcello and he was concerned with the •lowering of <br /> Peltier Lake Dam. Councilmember Buckbee said Mr. Marcello indicated Jim March did an <br /> excellent job addressing the Dam issue. Further, Jim is at the RCWD meeting. Councilmember <br /> Helmbrecht commented, Columbus Township and the City of Hugo had representatives attending <br /> the RCWD meeting this evening, she was pleased to have Jim representing the City of Centerville, <br /> Mayor Wilharber suggested the Council read the letter sent to Kate Drewry from Jim March. <br /> Councilmember Helmbrecht read the letter; <br /> - "AS per our last phone conversation, I am writing this letter to indicate that the City <br /> Council in Centerville request that a public hearing be held before any operational study <br /> be conducted on the Peltier Lake Dam. The City Council is interested in allowing the <br /> residents living on Peltier Lake to become stakeholders in the matters regarding the lake. <br /> The City of Centerville would be more than willing to help in disseminating information on <br /> any potential public hearing that would be scheduled to discuss this issue in more detail. <br /> Thank you for this opportunity to provide input." <br /> Councilmember Helmbrecht spoke with Jim March and -lie indicated RCWD does not hold a . <br /> public hearing on these issues.
