Mayor Wilharber suggested, waiting until Mr. March <br /> returns and reports on the RCWD meeting. Councilmembers' Buckbee and Powers - Rasmussen <br /> agreed. <br /> Mayor Wilharber suggested, although the City Council meetings are boring, citizens should watch <br /> them and if not, they should at least read the newspaper to stay updated with the changes. <br /> MOTION by Councilmember Buckbee, seconded by Councilmember Powers - Rasmussen to table <br /> the issue until the Council hears back from Mr. March. <br /> A letter from Paul Palzer - - <br /> Councilmember Helmbrecht requested waiting until the Council receives more information and <br /> better understands the whole benefit program. Ms: Gaustad commented, permanent part-time <br /> employees would receive $100 per month toward single coverage. Permanent full -time <br /> employees would receive $150 per month toward single coverage. Permanent full -time <br /> employees would receive $300 per month toward family coverage. In addition, any monies not <br /> used for single /family health coverage can be used toward life,"dental or deferred compensation. <br /> Councilmember Buckbee thought the flat rate benefits are based off the union contract agreement, <br /> so all employees would be treated the same. Ms. Gaustad agreed and reported the Union has <br /> agreed to the terms identified in the draft copy of the union contract. <br /> MOTION by Councilmember Helmbrecht, seconded by Councilmember Brenner to table the <br /> issue and request a letter from Jim with more information. Helmbrecht yes, Brenner yes, <br /> Wilharber yes, Buckbee yes, Powers- Rasmussen abstained. <br /> Electrical Inspector Contract - <br /> Mayor Wilharber asked if Mr. Palzer had any additions. Mr. Palzer replied no. Mayor Wilharber <br /> read Mr. March's comments, "In discussing this contract with staff, the consensus is that Ken is <br /> providing a better service to the citizens than the State of Minnesota did. The City is also <br /> retaining a portion of the fee for inspections, whereas the City did not receive any revenue when <br /> we contracted with the State. Further, Mr, March recommends that the City renew the contract <br /> with Suburban Inspections for a period of two years commencing on April 1, 1997 and expiring <br /> on March 31 1999 ". - <br /> MOTION by Mayor Wilharber, seconded by Councilmember Buckbee to renew the contract as <br /> recommended by Mr. March. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Garbage Contract - <br /> Mayor Wilharber explained Greg Hellings, Randy Hagerty and Jim March have set up a meeting <br /> for March 31, at 9:30 A.M. to begin drafting specifications so the City can issue requests for <br /> garbage proposals. Further, Greg Hollings indicated thatthe=City does not have to follow the <br /> formal bidding requirements. Councilmember Powers - Rasmussen volunteered to attend the <br />
