The Brimeyer Group Inc.
EXECUTIVE SEARCH CONSULTANTS
904 Mainstreet
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION RESULTS Suite 205
JIM MARCH, CLERK /ADMINISTRATOR Hopkins, MN 55343
CITY OF CENTERVILLE
January, 1997
I. ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT
* City Council would like a weekly memo from the City Administrator updating them on
various happenings within the organization and within the community. (Try to limit it to
one page - two pages maximum.)
* Council would like a summary report of each item on the agenda with options from the
City Administrator and a recommendation of the City Administrator's preferred option.
* It would be helpful to developers, Council, and the Planning and Zoning Committee if
staff could develop a 12 month calendar which shows:
a. Timeframe within which the submittals must be provided to the City.
b. Meetings where the P & Z Committee will consider the proposals and make their
recommendations.
c. Meetings at which the Council will consider the report from the P & Z Committee.
II. FISCAL /BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
* The Council would like to have the preferred software installed as soon as possible so
that development projects and other financial information could be tracked in the form
of a spreadsheet and a summary of financial information.
* The City Administrator should consider establishing a "cut off date" for payments to
vendors. This will coincide with the Council packet delivery.
III. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
* Council encourages filling the receptionist position and a long term staffing analysis for
the Public Works Department.
IV. RELATIONSHIP WITH CITY COUNCIL
* The City Administrator should explore the possibility of having electronic mail within
City Hall and the City buildings and for Councilmembers to communicate to City Hall
and to each other.
* Long range, the City may want to consider an Internet connection and the establishment
of a Web site.
(612) 945-0246 • fax (612) 945 -0102
