-2- V. LONG RANGE PLANNING * In addition to discussing 1996 accomplishments and 1997 goals, the Council would like the Administrator to research the various options in developing a strategic plan for the City and initiating a strategic planning process with the City Council, the Administrator, and the staff. VI. RELATIONSHIP WITH PUBLIC/PR * Encourage the continued development and publication of the newsletter and for the City Administrator to maintain contacts within the community. VII. INTERAGENCY RELATIONS * Excellent progress in this area. * Administrator is encouraged to work with the local colleges and universities to establish a viable internship program whereby students enrolled in a Public Administration Program can work for the City on a part -time, limited basis. Interns would work on special projects such as developing a timetable for Planning and Zoning and Council Action, developing a format for summary reports to the City Council, exploring the options available to the City for electronic mail and Internet connection, etc. VIII. PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT * Administrator is encouraged to participate as time permits with the League of Minnesota City activities and with other professionals in the public administration profession. The emphasis should be on networking to make information available for use by the City of Centerville.
