Forcemain an4Possible Trajl. - Mr. March stated that Metropolitan Council is replacing
the forcemain. He suggested that they "sub -cut" so the City can construct a trail when the
land is developed, assuming they would be all right with the City doing this to the
easement.
It was a general consensus that Park and Recreation would support the future
development of a possible trail.
Ice Rink Upda e - Steve Brown mentioned that he has three attendants committed to
working at the ice rink. He thought it would be best to have no more than five attendants
working the rink this year. If we have more than five, it would mean the attendants would
not get very many hours, which may not be enough for them. He is having a meeting next
week at the warming house to go over things with the attendants. Mr. Brown questioned
a first aid kit at the warming house - since there isn't one there. Steve wanted to discuss in
more detail a "Family Fun Night." The committee chose to have the Family Fun Night on
Sundays from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. starting in January. Don Bahneman volunteered to work
on obtaining a stereo /receiver and speakers for the warming house and outdoors. It was
asked who would be maintaining concessions. Jim March offered we could call Mary
Capra and see if the Boy Scouts would be willing to commit to running the concession
stand and putting on the Family Fun Night. Jill Lien mentioned we could advertise the
Family Fun Night on the sign in front of City Hall. Jill brought 12 keys to the meeting,
one was issued to each member except Dale Larson who chose not to have one. Steve
Brown will issue the remaining keys to the attendants, as well as keep track of what keys
are issued to whom. Each attendant is required to give a $20.00 deposit. We elected to
take $ 10.00 from each of their first two
paychecks.
NEW BUSINESS
Jim March spoke of several grants offered by the Department of Natural Resources that
he felt the City should apply for One specifically is the Outdoor Recreation Grant
Program - he felt this would be great for park development. Another was a fishing pier
with an amount of up to $20,000.00. He mentioned the first meeting is on December
14th., at the Wargo Nature Center.
It was mentioned that the City needs to name the parks in Eagle Pass and Acorn Creek.
Doug Porter questioned how the EDC post design team visit went and if Wayne LeBlanc
had any further input.
Jim March spoke of the post design team visit. He stated is was a great success and that
EDC had a very large turnout.
Doug Porter questioned the trees in Eagle Pass and if they could be relocated.
3
