Jim March explained that there may from $50k to $250k available for certain redevelopment or
developments of parks.
3.Don't necessarily completely pave the Lamotte Park parking lot.
Lamotte Park has a large parking lot. Here's an idea to consider: instead of paving the whole parking lot,
consider using special "blocks" that allow grass to grow between them. For, say, one fourth to one
half of the lot, use normal paving as grass could not take constant use. But, the lot appears to be sized
for the biggest anticipated gathering, and for those occasions, parking on the "blocks" would probably
work very well. This allows more area of the park to look green, and, in addition, would reduce hard
surface runoff pollution for the nearby lake.
4.* *Landscaping.
Jeff Gibbens pointed out that the Minnesota Department of Transportation, where he works, has programs
to help communities with landscaping. There were several conditions. Although not directly in
Centerville, the program might provide resources to help with landscaping that would better hide
35W from certain areas in Anoka Park and also the city of Centerville - people on Peltier lake, for
example, are well aware of 35W. Conditions include a need for volunteers for planting, property
adjacent to DOT property, an official request from local government, among others. These MnDOT
programs offer an opportunity for funding that should be pursued.
It was the feeling of the group that we should start with high expectations and only lower them if we have
to. The timing of the Design Team suggestions, Anoka County Park plans and improvements, Lamotte
Park plans, and other coincidental activities offer once in a community lifetime opportunities that should
not be missed. Please help make these dreams come true. Current and future residents of Centerville will
be thankful.
Thanks to everyone participating in the most recent Trails, Parks, and Lakes meeting:
Jeff Gibbens, Mary Kupher, Chuck Brenner, Shelly LaBarre, Robert Goldsmith, and Wayne LeBlanc
And the meeting before that:
Jenifer Kaczmarski„ Lori Dorn, Shelly LaBarre, Molly Nelson, Hatem Qanrhieh, Kalib Gallegos,
and Wayne LeBlanc
And the meeting before that:
Erick Marshall, Rick Paulsen, Gary Barott, Shelly LaBarre, and Wayne LeBlanc
