MEMO
DATE : March 18, 1999
TO : Honorable Mayor and Council
FROM : Jim March
RE : City Hall/Park Maintenance
Included in your packet is a copy of two quotes that were received for City Hall/Park fertilizing
and weed control. I feel that it is very important to properly maintain the City owned properties
to set an example for the residents in the community. It appears the lowest quote is from
Chem -Lawn. We used them last year and had no problems. When we add LaMotte Park and
Acorn Creek Park this will increase our expense in the future. LaMotte Park was fertilized when
the dormant seeding occurred last fall. I would recommend awarding the project to Chem -Lawn.
I have placed a call to the sales representative to talk about organic or natural fertilizers. I am
expecting a return call. The clerk I spoke with said they do have natural fertilizers available, but
the cost is nearly double that of the standard fertilizer. I should have more information available
at the Council meeting.
