goal is to come to agreement with Park and Recreation and eventually go to the City
Council for Council endorsement.
PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Steve Brown questioned what took place at the last two meetings regarding Acorn Creek
Park. Michael Navin explained we started the meeting with a public hearing on Acorn
Creek Park. The Neighborhood Network Committee submitted information that included
surveys, graphs, photos and petitions etc. Dale Larson concurred that the Park and
Recreation Committee requested the Neighborhood Network Committee to submit a
thumbnail sketch of their vision.
Jim March mentioned that the Neighborhood Network Committee had another meeting a
couple of weeks after the Public Hearing. The group came up with the initial phase of the
park development. Mr. March showed the plans that the Neighborhood Network
Committee came up with, which illustrated play equipment, benches, refuse containers etc.
Dale Larson questioned if there was mention of a picnic shelter anywhere. Mr. March
stated there wasn't a shelter in the plan, adding there are two major components: The first
component is the play area (equipment} and the second component is connecting the
trailways. The Neighborhood Network Committee would like to see some trees moved
into the park.
Dale Larson felt the information submitted bythe Neighborhood Network Couuuittee was
very nicely put together and will help the Park and Recreation Committee considerably.
Steve Brown questioned the dollar amount of the quote submitted by the Neighborhood
Network Committee. Michael Navin felt that the Park and Recreation Committee needs
to be more prudent with the City's funds.
Jim March explained that the City would have to accept bids on anything over $25,000.00.
Mr. March gave a breakdown of the grant budget as follows:
$55,500 for the play structure
2,000 for grading the entire park
5,000 for hydro seeding
7,900 for 575 lineal feet of asphalt trail
3,100 for designing the park
9,000 for concrete sidewalk
3,500 for trail between benches and play structure
4,533 for 12" wood mulch
$90,533 - Total
Mr. Gibbons mentioned he works for the Department of Transportation and has a little bit
of design experience. He offered that 1 1/2 inches of bituminous trail wouldn't be very
adequate. He suggested granular material with a good sub -cut material would hold up
2
