Northern Forest Products
2050 Main Street .4' A,
Centerville, Minnesota 55038 \ J ,' 4A m
Phone 612- 429 -9990 644
Fax 612-429-9993 A y;:,, ,
R ODUG N
July 28, 1998
City of Centerville
880 Main Street
Centerville, MN 55038
Dear City Council and Planning and Zoning Committee members:
This letter outlines our plans for completing a turnaround driveway on our lot H's 5 and 6
in the Centerville Industrial Park.
Pose of Project:
To provide a safer and less congested flow of vehicle traffic for current Northern Forest
Product's operations.
Current Concerns:
• Most trucks are opting to back out onto CSAH 14 when leaving due to inadequate
turnaround space on current lot #5, creating a dangerous traffic situation.
• Several incoming loads of lumber can arrive within a few hour time periods, creating a
situation where later arriving trucks are parking on the North side of CSAH 14 until other
trucks are unloaded.
• Current paved area on lot #5 is inadequate due to sharing of space for following items:
- Parking stalls on East and West
- Area necessary for current truck being unloaded (forklift
unloads from both sides)
- Trucks arriving throughout the day picking up lumber to be
delivered to our customers
- Temporary placement of loads taken off trucks until inbound
procedures completed
- Sorting of lumber on pavement due to occasional inadequate
space in warehouse
• Our business is growing constantly and congestion and safety issues will grow.
page 1
