* City Council approval prior to issuing a permit.
The Council elected to amend the motion to include a damage deposit of $5000 and pictures before
and after hauling. Motion carried unanimously.
Request for Building Permit Waived - Centerville Elementary
Mr. Palter confirmed Mayor Wilharber's question regarding the permit cost of $175. Mayor Wilharber
commented the fees would recycle through the public entities.
Motion bv Mayor Wilharber, seconded by Councilmember Sweeney to waive the building permit
fee for the Centerville Elementary School sign. Motion carried unanimously.
Resignation of Councilmember Theresa Brenner _
With regret, Mayor Tom Wilharber moved to accept Councilmember Brenner's letter of
resignation. Councilmember Mari Nelson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Wilharber noted that Theresa has been an integral part of the Council, EDC, Design Team,
Youth, Star City, HRA/Senior Housing and many, many other organizations. Moreover, she will be -
missed by many for a long time.
Mayor Wilharber highlighted on the possible options to fill the Council vacancy:
Post the vacancy, accept applications and conduct interviews.
Hold a Special Election.
Offer the position to the next highest vote getter - Linda Broussard Vickers
The Mayor stated that he had contacted Linda Broussard Vickers and she had voiced an interest and
would welcome the opportunity to work with Council. Ms. Vickers also stated that she would regret
having to resign from the Planning and Zoning Conunission.
Motion bv Councilmember Nelson, seconded by Councilmember Sweeney that the City inform
individuals that a Council position is available, accept resumes or letters of interest then interview.
Further Discussion:
Councilmember Travis commented he would rather see Linda Broussard Vickers be appointed to the
City Council. He reasoned that he could not think of a more informed, or better candidate that has
shown interest. Ms. Broussard has been active in the Community, on the Planning Commission and ran
for Council in the last election. In short, he felt confident that even after the interview process he would
choose Ms. Broussard Vickers.
Councilmember Sweeney stated the same and withdrew his second from the above mentioned motion.
Mayor Wilharber called the vote and the vote failed to pass.
Motion by Councilmember Sweeney. seconded by Councilmember Travis to offer the City Council
vacancy to Linda Broussard Vickers. Motion carried unanimously.
