June 2, 1999 Park and Recreation Meeting <br /> Motion by Doug Porter to agree with the Planning and Zoning Commission 's <br /> recommendation for Council to approve the rezone from RI to I1. Motion seconded <br /> by Steve Brown. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Lakeland Hits Parki glows- <br /> Mr. March briefly explained that Little League people are parking their cars on the road, in <br /> Lakeland Hills, and then walk down the trail to the back of the school. The City Council <br /> voted to limit the parking to one side ofthe street. The residents are not happy with this <br /> decision, and are therefore coming to the next City Council meeting to express their <br /> opinions. The residents are looking to have "No Parking" between 5 -9 p.m. on both sides <br /> of the street. <br /> Intern f& Park Maintenanc& <br /> Mr. Potter suggested that since the City has acquired so much park property, that maybe <br /> the City should consider hiring an intern to help with the maintenance of the parks. Mr. <br /> Porter suggested we could check with schools for any students interested in an internship. <br /> If nothing else, this is something to consider for next year. <br /> Mr. Navin questioned if there was a market for interns. Mr. March offered the City could <br /> look into it further and check with different places. <br /> DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> Mr. Brown mentioned that Ms. Lien has been doing a great job with the packets and <br /> minutes, and enjoys having her at the meeting& Mr, Navin agreed and wanted it noted <br /> in the minutes that it is nice having Ms. Lien at the meetings. This is something Park and <br /> Recreation has desired for some time. <br /> July Aeenda Ids <br /> 1. Update on St. - Paul Water Utility Appraisal. <br /> 2. Update on LaMotte Trail Issue. <br /> 3. Update on DNR Grants. <br /> 4. Update on Royal Meadows Park Improvements. <br /> 5. Update on signs at Royal Meadows, Acorn Creek and Eagle Parks. <br /> 6. Reschedule August 4, 1999 Park and Recreation Meeting. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> Motion by Michael Navin to adjourn the June 2, 1999 Park and Recreation <br /> Meeting. Motion seconded by Dale Larson. All in favor. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.. <br /> Mr. Kevin Fogarty arrived to discuss the condition of the end of the park trail near Eagle <br /> Pass. It appears the trail is broken up from back hoes. Mr. March will have public works <br /> examine the trail. <br /> 6 <br />
