Y2K BUG <br /> CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> REPORT Y2k <br /> July 0 999 � ` .� ., <br /> LL <br /> The combined Police Department/Commission Y2k Committee held this meeting with various <br /> individual from Circle Pines, Lexington, and Centerville who are interested in coordinating Y2k <br /> efforts within the cities. Present at this meeting were some of the city mayors, council <br /> members, city administrators, police officers, public work directors, and fire chiefs for the tri -city <br /> area. <br /> Representing Centerville: Mari Nelson, Council Member, Y2k Coordinator <br /> Tom Wilharber, Mayor <br /> Jim March, City Administrator <br /> Chief Heckman gave the following recap of the meeting of the combined police <br /> department/commission on 05/10199, 06/21/99, and 07/12/99: <br /> Corporal Nelson: <br /> • Emergency/Y2k work schedule of entire department being on twelve -hour shifts. <br /> Possibly clerical staff as well. <br /> • Family needs during disaster/Y2k, including housing accommodations. <br /> • List of ham radio operators <br /> Officer Bemardy: <br /> • Stockpile food, water, toiletries for officers and their families for Y2k standby <br /> and /or disaster times. <br /> Officer Blanck: <br /> • Prioritize calls from individuals needing immediate response to those needing no <br /> response (info only). <br /> • MDT storage by ACCC on non - emergency calls for later retrieval. <br /> • Officer safety issues (proper response to calls, making sure citizens are well <br /> aware that you are a police officer). <br /> Officer Gleason: <br /> • Fuel needs during disaster/Y2k <br /> • Spare tires on rims for departmental vehicles during disaster/Y2k. Check with <br /> Automedics reference available tires, wheels, inflate -a -tire repair kits on market. <br /> • Security/Crowd Control Plan for Festival Foods, Convenient Food & Fuel Stores, <br /> and Hardware Stores. <br /> Officer Elofson: <br /> • Identify areas /shelters for officers /citizens to congregate during a disaster/Y2k <br /> CSO Miller — Neighborhood Crime Watch Group: <br /> • Need every area of cities participating in a crime watch group <br /> • Needed to communicate with citizens as a small group instead of many <br /> individual citizens <br /> • Identify citizens with "special" medical conditions and citizens who have training <br /> in medical emergencies. <br /> Cpl Jensen: <br /> • List of citizens requiring oxygen or other medical assistance during power <br /> failure. <br /> • Notify citizens to make arrangements with their suppliers prior to Y2k <br /> • Alert appropriate city halls of citizens in their area. <br /> Information contained in this communication relates to the City of Centerville's Year 2000 efforts.
