Office staff /elected officials communications. <br /> • Meet with all the Neighborhood Crime Watch Block Captains in early fall. Explain <br /> what the police department is doing to prepare for a disaster emergency/Y2k. <br /> Explain what the police department expects of the Neighborhood Crime Watch <br /> Groups. <br /> Chief Heckman opened discussions surrounding the Y2k situation: <br /> COMMUNICATION: Questions were raised regarding communication between city <br /> command posts, police, fire officials, elected officials, volunteers, and public works people. <br /> FUEL STORAGE: Discussion around OSHA issues with fuel storage and use. Use of <br /> facilities with proper walls, venting, and drains. The use of 55 gallon "Sealed Tanks ". <br /> LIFT STATION: The need for generators to operate lift stations in case of power outage. <br /> WELL: The need to be able to access water in case of power outage. <br /> BANKS: The possible run on banks. Security issues, as well as crime concerns. <br /> STORES: The possible run on food stores, convenient food & fuel stores, gas stations, and <br /> hardware stores. <br /> SHELTERS: Identify area shelters and /or personal homes for citizens in case of power <br /> outage. <br /> MEDICAL ALERTS: Identify emergency medical needs of citizens in case of power outage. <br /> Identify individuals who are medical emergency trained. <br /> GENERATOR: City Hall, Fire and Police Departments equipped with generator in case of <br /> power outage. <br /> Information contained in this communication relates to the City of Centerville's Year 2000 efforts.
