MEMO <br /> DATE: November 16, 2000 <br /> TO : Honorable Mayor and Council <br /> FROM: Jim March <br /> RE : Schlavin Variance Request <br /> The planning and zoning commission held a public hearing on this variance request at the <br /> November 14 meeting. There were no residents present to comment on this request. <br /> Mr. Schlavin is requesting permission to install a 4'x6' sign. The current ordinance <br /> allows a two square foot sign in conjunction with a home -based business. The planning <br /> and zoning commission voted unanimously to deny the variance request due to the fact <br /> that the request does not meet the four criteria for granting a variance. Mr. Schlavin was <br /> advised to appear at the next planning and zoning commission workshop to discuss <br /> amending the ordinance to allow larger signs for home based businesses along County <br /> roads. <br /> I recommend that this variance request be denied by Council. <br />
