SET AGENDA
The following items were added to the agenda:
• Resignation of Michael Navin under Consent Agenda.
Motion by Council Member Travis, seconded by Council Member Broussard
Vickers to approve the agenda with noted additions. All in favor. Motion
carried unanimously.
VII. PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS
Speed Complaints
Karen Nasca, 7037 Brian Court, stated she is concerned about the speed in her
neighborhood and at the corner of the named streets. She noted at this
intersection there is a bicycle trail with numerous children crossing the street.
Ms. Nasca stated additional stop signs are needed or police need to make a greater
presence at this intersection.
Al Peterson, 7065 Dupre Road, noted there is concern for traffic down Dupre
Road driving extremely fast. He noted traffic does not observe the stop signs
during morning traffic or in the afternoon. Mr. Peterson noted there are many
families in the area with children on bikes and roller blades. He asked that a
speed sign be posted in his area to make traffic aware of the residential speed
zone.
Keith Jovanovich, 7269 Old Mill Road, stated 17 people signed a petition two
years ago to get a stop sign at 73 and Old Mill Road to no avail. He expressed
concern for the additional stop sign placed on 73 and Quebec and that there is
still not a stop sign on 73 and Old Mill Road. Mr. Jovanovich stated he feels the
neighbors in this area are feeling discriminated against and would not like to see a
death happen in order to make a stop sign be placed at the intersection.
Mayor Wilharber stated stop signs are put in through petitions after discussing it
with the police department and City Council. He explained many stop signs are
not observed in the City, which has become a hazard for the residents in
Centerville. Mayor Wilharber indicated that a crime watch could also be set up in
each neighborhood to catch license plates of speeding drivers, which could then
be passed along to the police department.
Christine Fischback, 1684 Lakeland Circle, stated a car went through her yard last
week due to the high speed it was traveling. She explained traffic is out of control
in her neighborhood due to the fact there are a large number of children in the
area.
Ms. Nasca asked if a "Children at Play" sign could be put in the high -speed traffic
area. Mayor Wilharber stated a petition would be needed to approve this signage
addition as well.
3
