Planning and Zoning
November 14, 1984
Page Three
At this time (8:25 P.M.) the Board took a five minute break.
GROUP W CABLE - VARIANCE, CONDITIONAL USE, METES & BOUNDS CONVEYANCE
Mr. Steve Nierengarten and Mr. Zurek were representing Group W in
their request to purchase a ten acre parcel to be used for the
purposes of cable TV, which would include construction of one 150'
antenna (which would be a conditional use) and two 22' diameter
dishes on grade.
Group W's selection of the site on Birch Street (just behind the
present tower) was made because of its central location to the area
to be serviced (Lino Lakes, Circle Pines, Lexington and Centerville).
They have researched several sites which resulted in several conflicts
including "noisy" air space, improper zoning, etc.
The problem with the site in question is the fact that it does not
have the frontage to meet ordinance requirements. Group W felt that
the problem of access has been taken care of even though the land
in question does not have necessary frontage.
■
Mr. Cody moved that the application of Group W for a metes and bounds
subdivision for certain property legally described on the application
be denied due to the fact that the property does not have the 330'
frontage as required by the City ordinance. Motion seconded by Mrs.
Klaus,
Mr. Goldade asked if there would be a time restriction which would
not allow Group W to reapply, possibly with a different site, until
a certain period of time had elapsed. It was the understanding of
the Board that there is no such time restriction which would apply
to this situation and that Group W could return as soon as they
wish with another request. Mr. McLean reminded Group W representa-
tives that the P & Z Board was a recommending body and that the
City Council would take the final action to accept or deny the
request. On voting on the motion, Mr. Prokop and Mr. Goldade voted
nay, Mr. McLean, Mrs. Klaus and Mr. Cody voted aye. Motion carried.
NEW BUS _
Mr. McLean reported that he had received a phone call from Mr. Larry
Brokke who owns a parcel of land partially in Lino Lakes and partially
in Centerville. Mr. Brokke has been notified that Centerville is
considering changing the zoning classification of his land in Center-
ville, and he is concerned about this devaluating his property. Mr.
Brokke did not request any particular action be taken, although Mr.
McLean felt that the City should be involved as a service to a'Lino
Lakes citizen., Mr. McLean told Mr. Brokke that he would bring the
item to the attention of the Building Inspector and the City Admin-
istrator and felt that the City Administrator should look into the
problem.
