MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY CENTERVILLE, MINNESOTA HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 2, 1993 AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS PUBLIC HEARING Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Centerville held a public hearing on Tuesday, March 2, 1993 at the City Hall. The purpose of the public hearing was to hear all persons present regarding the possibility of amending Ordinance 04, Article as follows: Now Reads: 34.06. AMOUNT OF YARD OCCUPIED. A detached accessory building not over one story and not exceeding twelve (12) feet in height may occupy not to exceed ten (10) percent square footage of the area of any rear yard. Amend to Read: 34.06. -Q1 AMOUNT OF YARD OCCUPIED_ In the R2A. R -2 and R -5 zoning districts a detached accessory building not over one story and not exceeding sixteen (1n) feet in height may occupy not to exceed ten (10) percent square footage of the area of any rear yard. 34.06. -02 AMOUNT OF YARD OCCUPIED_ Tn the R - zoning district a detached accessory building not over one story and not exceeding sixteen (16) feet in height may occupy not to exceed fifteen (15) percent square footage of the area of any rear yard. Chairperson Tourville called the public hearing to order at 7:30 p.m. Present: Drilling, LaMotte, Welk. Absent: Vermeulen_ Chairperson Tourville summarized the proposed amendment to the members of the Planning and Zoning Commission. It was noted that this proposed amendment is the result of a request for variance to build a garage in the R -4 Zoning District which would exceed the ten (10) percent square footage of the area of their rear yard. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that accessory buildings have been allowed to be built which exceed the ten (10) percent square footage of the area of any rear yard in the R -4 Zoning District. Chairperson Tourville noted that there no persons present in the audience_
