Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Planning and Zoning <br /> Commission of the City of Centerville held a Public Hearing on <br /> Thursday, September 5, 1991 at the City Hall. The purpose of the <br /> Public Hearing was to hear all persons present regarding the <br /> possibility of amending Ordinance #4, Article 2. - ZONING <br /> DISTRICTS AND DISTRICT REGULATIONS, Section 24. SCHEDULE OF <br /> REGULATIONS. <br /> Now Reads: <br /> (7) Ali future new dwellings in R-1, R-2A, R-2, R-3, <br /> R-4, Single Family Residential Districts shall <br /> have an attached double garage of a minimum 440 <br /> square feet. <br /> Amend to Read: <br /> (7) Ali future new dwellings in R-1, R-2A, R-2, R-3, <br /> R•4, Singie Family Residential Districts shall <br /> have a double garage of a minimum 440 square feet. <br /> Chairperson Tourville called the hearing to order at 7:07 p.m. <br /> Present: Welk, Vermeulen, Drilling, LaMotte, City Council <br /> Liaison Eurgstahler. <br /> Chairperson Tourville summarized the proposed amendment to the <br /> members of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Liaison <br /> Burgstahler. There was no audience members present. <br /> Liaison Burgsta}iler noted that he would not have a problem with <br /> the proposed amendment as long as a garage is required. <br /> Commission member Welk expressed agreement with Liaison <br /> Burgstahler, as long as the garage was built at the same time as <br /> the home. <br /> Commission member Vermeulen stated that she prefers an attached <br /> garage, but did not feel it was right to dictate to property <br /> owners that they be required to build an attached garage. Oho <br /> also suggested that the proposed amendment apply only to approve <br /> plats priol to amchdmcnt of the erciinance. <br /> Commission member Drilling expressed that in new developments an <br /> attached garage is a good requirement. <br /> Commission member LaMotte expressed agreement with COMMiSSi011 <br /> member Drilling's opinion that attached garages in new <br /> developments was a good idea. <br /> Chairperson Tourville expressed that R-1 and R-3 Zoning Districts <br /> are rural in nature and should not be required to buiid a garage. <br /> He also expressed that R-2 should be allowed to have a detached <br /> garage. This would eliminate questions in advance for multi- <br /> family housing that could possibly have detached garages. <br /> Motion by Drilling, second by Vermeulen to adjourn the public <br /> hearing, motion carried unanimously. Public hearing adjourned <br /> 7:25 p.m. <br />
