P&Z Meeting Minutes <br /> Page Three <br /> May 1, 1990 <br /> Discussion on "MINIMUM GROUND FLOOR AREA OF LIVING SPACE". <br /> Commission member Welk questioned as to what will ground floor <br /> area of living space be interpreted as. <br /> Chairman Tourville expressed that in his opinion this would be <br /> the main living area of a home. <br /> Commission member Vermeulen questioned as to what would be <br /> considered the ground floor in a split level home. <br /> Chairman Tourville felt that it would be for the Building <br /> Inspector to interpret. <br /> Commission member Welk noted that she would like the Building <br /> Inspector to clarify the definition of ground floor. <br /> It appeared to be the general consensus of the Planning and <br /> Zoning Commission that the Building inspector should be asked for <br /> the definition of ground floor area of living space, and that the <br /> definition should be included in the amendment. <br /> Discussion as to whether under "AMEND TO READ SCHEDULE OF <br /> DISTRICT REGULATIONS MINIMUM GROUND FLOOR AREA OF LIVING SPACE" <br /> if the "*Ali basementiess dwellings in this district shall be <br /> required to provide an additional 100 square feet of floor area <br /> to house utilities. should apply to all zoning districts or just <br /> the proposed R -5 District. <br /> Chairman Tourville questioned if utility rooms are/are not <br /> considered living space. <br /> Commission members Welk and Drilling expressed that utility rooms <br /> are not included in living space. <br /> It appeared to be the general consensus that an additional 100 <br /> square feet of floor area to house utilities should apply to all <br /> zoning districts. <br /> Discussion on the appropriate recommendation for minimum square <br /> footage from the range under R -5 given on the "AMEND TO READ: <br /> TABLE B SCHEDULE OF DISTRICT REGULATIONS AND LOT AND YARD <br /> REQUIREMENTS." <br /> Chairman Tourville expressed that in his opinion the lot size <br /> should be based on the pay back offered to the community. <br /> Chairman Tourville also noted that many of the plats presented to <br /> the City have been in the excess of 15,000 square feet. <br /> L. <br />
