P & 2 Meeting Minutes <br /> July 5, 1989 <br /> Page Five <br /> drawing; <br /> - Clarification of setbacks on drawing; <br /> - Clarification of landscaping on drawing; <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Vermeulen, second by Lindgren to recommend to the City <br /> Council that a variance to Ordinance #44 -A be granted to Reubin <br /> Linz for the property at 6867 - 20th Avenue South in order to add <br /> on to their existing building using exterior wall surface of <br /> sheet metal for the following reasons: <br /> - It is reasonable to continue the same exterior as on the <br /> existing building for aesthetics; <br /> -The plight of the land owner is due to the fact the <br /> building existed prior to the ordinance; <br /> - The hardship is not due to economic considerations alone, <br /> the aesthetics are better; <br /> - Granting the variance will not confer any special privilege <br /> as the building and business existed prior to the ordinance, <br /> the land necessary to expand is available, extra space is <br /> required for their business to function properly, Ordinance <br /> #44, Section 3.3 allows expansion of not more than 50% of <br /> the gross area of the pole barn as of the date of passage of <br /> the ordinance with conditions attached to maintain and <br /> enhance the appearance and function of the building <br /> including landscaping and "building exterior requirements <br /> - The addition should improve the appea al and increase the <br /> value as opposed to diminish or impair established property <br /> values within the neighborhood; <br /> -The proposed actions will be in keeping with the spirit and <br /> intent of Ordinance $t44 -A as stated in section 3.3 allowing <br /> the expansion of pole buildings with conditions attached to <br /> the expansion to maintain and enhance the appearance and <br /> function of the building including landscaping and "Building <br /> • exterior requirements "; <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> Discussion on variance request to Ordinance 04 to build a garage <br /> 15 feet into the setback (10 feet from the property line) at 1994 <br /> North Robin Lane. It was the general consensus of the Planning & <br /> Zoning Commission that more information was needed. <br />
