1 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning <br /> Commission of the City of Centerville held a public hearing on <br /> Tuesday, March 7, 1989. The purpose of the hearing was to hear <br /> all persons present regarding amending Ordinance #4, TABLE B, <br /> ( + +) footnote, to consider deleting, or possibly rewording, the <br /> last two sentences concerning setbacks in the Commercial and <br /> Industrial zoning districts. Chairperson Tourville called the <br /> hearing to order at 7:00 p.m. Present: Vermeulen, Welk, <br /> Drilling and Council liaison, Mayor Haberman. Absent: Lindgren. <br /> Chairperson Tourville recapped discussions from the January and <br /> February, 1989, meetings concerning the above footnote. <br /> Mayor Haberman stated that it should be kept in the Ordinance for <br /> the residential districts and only eliminated for commercial and <br /> industrial districts. <br /> Commission appeared to agree that Section 34.03 covered this for <br /> the residential districts. <br /> Motion by Drilling, second by Welk, to adjourn the hearing, <br /> motion carried unanimously. Hearing adjourned at 7:16 p.m. <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning <br /> Commission of the City of Centerville held a second public <br /> hearing on Tuesday, March 7, 1989. The purpose of the hearing <br /> was to hear all persons present concerning a request for variance <br /> from Ordinance #4, TABLE B, SCHEDULE OF DISTRICT REGULATIONS, LOT <br /> AND YARD REQUIREMENTS, ERQNT YARD SETBACK, to erect an attached <br /> garage and addition within the setback of the property described <br /> as follows: Lot 6, Block 2, Burque Addition I, Subject to <br /> utility easement. Chairperson Tourville called the hearing to <br /> order at 7:17 p.m. Present: Vermeulen, Welk, Drilling and <br /> Council liaison, Mayor Haberman. Absent: Lindgren. <br /> John Scherbel, 1567 Peltier Lake Drive, owner /resident of the <br /> property was present with Mrs. Scherbel and reviewed his request, <br /> drawing, and pictures, which had heen submitted for P & Z review. <br /> He also presented a blueprint of the proposed garage and <br /> addition. He stated that the present house is 28 by 23 feet; the <br /> addition and garage is 30 by 40 feet and would be 27 feet from <br /> the setback line of Peltier Lake Drive; the garage on the house <br /> next door (south) is 16 feet from the setback line; all other <br /> setbacks are met; and he feels the addition will greatly improve <br /> the neighborhood. <br /> Chairperson Tourville asked Mr. Scherbel what would happen if the <br /> variance were not approved. Scherbel stated that he would have <br /> to go straight across with the garage, and would not be able to <br /> have a screen porch on the back of the house, because of the <br /> setback from the lake having to be met. He stated that he may <br /> even decide to not do it at all. <br /> John Watson, 1585 Peltier Lake Drive, stated that he is here to <br />
