P & R will brainstorm site plans at the November meeting. We need the land survey or plat, the current
park plan with dimensions and elevations, and aerials of the site for the November meeting. P &R
members should bring their Comprehensive Plans to the meeting, too.
P & R requests that staff contact Dept. of Trade and Economic Development to get at least two examples
of similar projects that successfully were awarded grants. These should be approximately 15 to 30 acres
in size and a recreation field type of development. In addition, please obtain a current application or last
year's so that we can start filling in the blanks. THANK YOU!!!!
Besik stated that Marty Asleson approached the CC for Centerville to join them in investing in a park on
Holly Drive and 85th, as they need cooperative effort to qualify for ISTEA grants. Bill told Marty that he
would be interested in discussing a cooperative agreement for further expansion and cooperative
development of Laura LaMotte Park. Marty thought this should be investigated, too. P & R will invite
Marty to the December meeting to discuss this further. Prior to the December meeting, we will send a
copy of the Park and Ped. System Comp. Plan as well as the concept plan to be developed at the November
meeting.
New Business
1. Centennial Hockey Association: Motion by Thompson, second by Navin to approve the request
from 5:30 to 9:30 pm Monday through Thursday. We suggest that rather than allocating additional hours,
more efficient scheduling of those hours be used. If the need for additional hours can be justified
specifically, arrangements need to be made with P & R. Passed.
2. Nite Golf: Despite the rain, 24 golfers golfed. A big thank you to Bill Besik who was the master
mind of the event, as well as to Tom Dario, Dale Larson and Rick Thompson for all of their hard work to
make it a fun night and for cleaning up the course the next morning. The event netted $345 for P &R.
Motion to adjourn at 9:00 pm by Navin, second Thompson. Passed.
Respectfully submitted:
Carol Zoff Pelton
