P &R MEETING MINUTES <br /> SEPTEMBER 7, 1994 <br /> PAGE THREE <br /> Extension of Central Park <br /> Council member Wilharber updated the Park and Recreation <br /> Committee on the purchase. Council member Wilharber wanted to <br /> know if the Park and Recreation Committee would put $20,000.00 <br /> towards the purchase. <br /> Discussion by the Park and Recreation Committee ensued, the <br /> Committee decided to pursue Carol Pelton's suggestion to go for <br /> the state grant to cover 50% of the park acquisition costs. A <br /> purchase agreement therefore would need to be executed to allow <br /> for the purchase of land on or about 1/1/196. <br /> The Park and Recreation Committee met with the City Council. <br /> Committee member Pelton acted as chairperson and presented the <br /> Committee's proposal to the City Council. <br /> Committee member Navin stressed two major points: <br /> the LaMotte family must be agreeable for the sale to <br /> take place on or about 1/1/96; <br /> the purchase agreement must be iron clad. <br /> Negotiation Committee to meet with the LaMotte family to discuss <br /> proposals is a suggestion to the City Council. The City Council <br /> will pass a resolution at its next meeting. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> DNR - Outdoor Recreation Grant Program. <br /> Committee member Pelton will be coordinating this event. <br /> Placement of Basketball Hoops. <br /> Committee member larson is working on the basketball hoops. <br /> Letter from Landscape Structure Inc. <br /> The Park and Recreation Committee reviewed a letter dated August <br /> 3, 1994 from Barb King, President, Landscape Structures Inc. <br /> regarding potential safety hazards of drawstrings on children's <br /> clothing. A copy of this letter on file with the City office. <br /> This letter is to be forwards to the Public Works Department for <br /> immediate attention. <br /> Request to store net frames - Chiefs Soccer Club. <br /> Committee member Navin made a request by Chiefs Soccer Club to <br /> store new frames at City facilities. <br /> This request is referred to Paul Palzer for consideration to <br /> place the goal frames in the public works building. <br /> ADJOURN: <br />
