P &R MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 7, 1994 PAGE THREE Extension of Central Park Council member Wilharber updated the Park and Recreation Committee on the purchase. Council member Wilharber wanted to know if the Park and Recreation Committee would put $20,000.00 towards the purchase. Discussion by the Park and Recreation Committee ensued, the Committee decided to pursue Carol Pelton's suggestion to go for the state grant to cover 50% of the park acquisition costs. A purchase agreement therefore would need to be executed to allow for the purchase of land on or about 1/1/196. The Park and Recreation Committee met with the City Council. Committee member Pelton acted as chairperson and presented the Committee's proposal to the City Council. Committee member Navin stressed two major points: the LaMotte family must be agreeable for the sale to take place on or about 1/1/96; the purchase agreement must be iron clad. Negotiation Committee to meet with the LaMotte family to discuss proposals is a suggestion to the City Council. The City Council will pass a resolution at its next meeting. NEW BUSINESS: DNR - Outdoor Recreation Grant Program. Committee member Pelton will be coordinating this event. Placement of Basketball Hoops. Committee member larson is working on the basketball hoops. Letter from Landscape Structure Inc. The Park and Recreation Committee reviewed a letter dated August 3, 1994 from Barb King, President, Landscape Structures Inc. regarding potential safety hazards of drawstrings on children's clothing. A copy of this letter on file with the City office. This letter is to be forwards to the Public Works Department for immediate attention. Request to store net frames - Chiefs Soccer Club. Committee member Navin made a request by Chiefs Soccer Club to store new frames at City facilities. This request is referred to Paul Palzer for consideration to place the goal frames in the public works building. ADJOURN:
