P & R MEETING MINUTES <br /> MARCH 2, 1994 <br /> PAGE THREE <br /> Mayor Buckbee noted that in the past he has gotten mixed messages <br /> with regard to the direction of the City park system. He thinks <br /> the Plan is great an hopes it will give a clearer direction to <br /> all. <br /> A public hearing will be held on May 18, 1994 on the Park and <br /> Trail Comprehensive Plan input. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Central Park Extension - LaMotte Property. <br /> Committee member Navin requested feed back from the City Council <br /> if they agreed that the LaMotte property was a high priority. <br /> Council member Wilharber stated in terms of long range planning, <br /> the extension of Central Park is important to service properties <br /> south of Main Street. He expressed concern on how to finance the <br /> acquisition. <br /> Committee member Reisdorfer commented the Park and Recreation <br /> Committee discussion has been around the future of good park <br /> planning. He noted that the Park Comprehensive Plan indicated it <br /> is vital. <br /> Discussion continued on the subject of Central Park expansion. <br /> Committee member Larson asked if there were a way to make the <br /> fields self sufficient. <br /> Pat Turgeon noted that Shoreview makes $10,000.00 a year on three <br /> fields. <br /> Motion by Buckbee, second by Helmbrecht to appoint Council <br /> members Wilharber and Brenner as Council liaisons to work with <br /> City staff and the Park and Recreation Committee to investigate <br /> financing of acquisition of land to expand Central Park and to <br /> put together a proposal, motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Dixon, second by Larson that Committee members <br /> Reisdorfer and Dixon shall be appointed as Park and Recreation <br /> Committee liaisons to work with City staff and City Council to <br /> investigate financing of acquisition of land to expand Central <br /> Park and to put together a proposal, motion carried unanimously. <br /> Ordinance Establishing a Park and Recreation Committee. <br /> Tabled. <br /> Rink Attendant Update. <br /> The rinks are closed. Improvements will be looked at and <br /> implemented. <br />
