DATE: August 2, 1993
TO: Tom Dario
c/o Park & Recreation Department
FROM: Bill Bisek
Kelly's Korner, Inc.
RE: Ball Fields
I would like to thank you for allowing us the use of the ball fields. In
consideration for allowing Kelly's Korner to use the two ball fields at Central
Park, we have assisted with some of the maintenance of the ball fields.
On May 18, 1993, I had 50 ton of ball field aggregate delivered to the ball fields
and then spread out and graded with a bobcat. The value of that would have been
$270.00. On July 12, 1993, we did a late spring chemical application. This
consisted of fertilizer, iron, sulfur and Trimec herbicide for Broadleaf weed
control. This has a value of $440.00. On July 30, 1993, we assisted in the
preparation of the ball fields for the Fet -De -Lacs Tournament. The value of
this is $400.00.
In the future, there are many things that should be done maintenance wise to
keep these fields in good playing condition.
I recommend three different chemical applications a year. One in early spring,
late spring and early fall. Also, once annually, I recommend aerification to
the outfield turf. As far as the infield goes, next year I would like to see
a minimum of 50 ton of ball field aggregate applied to each field and a stock-
pile nearby to be used for special events.
In my opinion, the fields are in pretty decent shape and if the suggestions
are followed, the fields will even be better and attract even more use.
Thanks gain,
William J. Bi ek
