MINUTES OF THE
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
April 11, 1989
Present: Jerry LeTendre Cindy Paschke
Steve Dixon Lisa Smith
Jerry Peterson, Council Liason
Absent: Dan Kupfer
Audience: Orville Hughes, Mark Ewing, Greg Dufeck, Elwin Linek,
Peter Despen
OLD BUSINESS
Motion by LeTendre to accept February notes as revised. (These
notes are attached following the notes for April).
Due to inclement weather a P &R Committee Meeting was not held in
March. Miscellaneous items discussed during that month will be
added to this month's notes.
Financial Report: It is the understanding of the P &R Committee
that $2578.68 remains in the 1989 budget, with the addition of
$1450.00 in C.D.'s to be cashed in during July. This amount does
not include the State surcharge of $23, and the SAC fee of $575.
Indeed, the future of 1989 looks grim! However, the P &R
Committee is beginning planning for fund raisers, to be addressed
later in these notes.
Hockey Rink and Warming House: .It was noted that weather is warm
enough to allow the heat to be turned down. Motion by Smith to
turn the heat off completely until needed again next fall.
Second by LeTendre. Motion by LeTendre to dig some form of
trench or drainage path for the water to drain from around the
warming house and drive, so that drying of the ground around that
area can be accelerated, and access to the building will be
easier. Unanimously accepted.
Vaccuum for Warming House: Jerry has offered the use of his Shop
Vac as needed for the cleaning of the Warming House.
Plaque for the Rink: Jerry will be in contact with a sign
company in Circle Pines with ideas for a plaque. More
information will be given at that time.
Planning for Tearing down of old rink: See notes under New
Business.
Discussion of a telephone at the Warming House was tabled until
later next fall.
