•
NEW BUSINESS
•
Discussion arose regarding the timeliness of the survey as applies to
new residents, as well as the overall low percentage of popula-
tion answering questions. It was noted that for a survey by
mail, 30% answering the survey was actually a fairly good
response, and that some important information can be extracted
from those results.
Mayor Haberman suggested that we must not fail to consider the
"No Opinion" percentages when analyzing the data. "No Opinion"
does not necessarily connotate a negative answer.
The P & R Committee has noted the concern for immediate need
of hiking /walking trails in Centerville. We feel that all
involved with helping in the Central Park project have done
a terrific job thus far. However, we also see the need for
decentralizing outdoor activities for the City and this can be
done by working more on trails, other parks, etc....
Though it was noted that present funds won't allow for immediate
attention to this matter, it was agreed that beginning planning
phases might be a good idea, especially when considering long
rnage plans for Centerville.
Smith has requested copies of the comprehensive plan for the City
of Centerville, both short term and long term.
Park recommendations for a City Park Master Plan will be reviewed
and discussed by the P & R Committee within the next two days.
Any changes will be communicated through Tammy.
Landscaping grants: The P & R Committee has received an applica-
ti from the MN Community Pride organization. La Tendre will
C."0" Pride to inquire whether the funds are matching funds, or
outright funds to be used at the discretion of the committee.
Either way, the grant will be applied for. Also a drawing of
Central Park's layout will be submitted.
Seedlings, if they're going to be planted, need to be ordered.
Pelton indicated that in the past they were donated at no charge
by the DNR. A decision will be made as to whether the annual
Arbor Day celebration with the 3rd graders will be done, and
the 4 -H may also be contacted.
The Centerville Heights pond has been being used as a skating area
by neighborhood residents. It has been decided that the P & R
Committee will not furnish lighting or snow removal. Skaters will
skate at their own risk.
