Park and Recreation Commission <br /> August 11, 1987 Meeting Minutes <br /> Present: Carol Pelton Cindy Paschke Gerald LeTendre <br /> Walter Neumann, Council Liaison <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:28 P.M. <br /> After review of the minutes, LeTendre made the motion to accept the <br /> minutes, Pelton second, unanimously accepted. The P &Z and <br /> Council minutes were reviewed, with some discussion on the changes <br /> in the grading plan in Centerville Heights, and the bid on the tennis <br /> courts. <br /> Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, reported on a ball tournament <br /> held by Waterworks in which no beer permit or damage deposit was taken <br /> out. In this case, they were given the opportunity to purchase <br /> the above permits, but in the future, the tournament will be closed <br /> down. <br /> LeTendre made a motion to recommend to the City Council that any <br /> persons found to be noncompliant to ordinance #41 by holding a <br /> tournament without a permit be fined $25, Paschke second, unanimously <br /> accepted. <br /> Orville Hughes also reported that lumber was purchased for the sandbox <br /> in Royal Meadows Park. P &R will decide on the location of the sandbox <br /> at the September P &R meeting. Dan Tourville will be dragging the <br /> pea rock in the parking lot in Central Park, and will grade the fill <br /> on the driveway in the Cedar Street Park. Walter Neumann informed <br /> P &R that garbage cans were being overturned at the Royal Meadows <br /> Park and suggested securing them to a cement slab. <br /> The moving of the hockey rink to Central Park is on hold until LeTendre <br /> attends the Lions meeting at the end of the month. LeTendre suggests <br /> that P &R consider a temporary warming house due to the lack of funds <br /> at this time. <br /> TO RECOMMEND To wry COUNCI <br /> LeTendre made a motionnto invest no additional monies in the tennis <br /> courts at the present site due to the possible widening of Main Street, <br /> and the existing base of the present court. Estimates on a brand new <br /> tennis court in a new location, either another area on the school <br /> property, or in one of the existing parks, was comparable to the <br /> estimate to repair the old tennis court, Paschke second, unanimously <br /> accepted. <br /> A letter was drafted to the Hockey Association requesting their <br /> assistance in helping to fund the moving of the hockey rink to Central <br /> Park, either with volunteerism, or monies. <br /> P &R inquires of the City Clerk as to whether the lights in the hockey <br /> rink are the City's. <br /> -1- <br />
