and procedures adopted as they pertain to park and pedestrian
systems in Centerville.
The Public Hearing for the plan will be in the preliminary
phase of the project.
Carol indicated that the Kevin Mullin property, south of
Sorel St. is currently for sale and could be considered for
acquisition. Carol indicated that there are one or two tax
forfeited lots on Pheasant Lane that the City should look into
acquiring.
City staff needs to check on the trailway easement
considerations as part of the Mill Road street vacation in the
Acorn Creek Development proposal and report at the next meeting.
It was the consensus of the committee that the public
hearing for the preliminary design of the Comprehensive Parks and
Trailways Plan be scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, 1993 at 6:30
P.M.. The notice of the hearing will be placed on the Cable TV
character generator and press releases will be issued to promote
the hearing.
Carol then asked for a recommendation from the committee on
the purchase of the L`Allier Estates block one lot 7 which will
come before the City Council at the April 14, 1993 meeting.
It was discussed that, since the lot could be used to
provide water access to the west side of the creek, partial
funding for the purchase of the lot could come from the Water
Operating Fund. Additional funding could come from T.I.F. money,
Trail Dedication Fund, Park and Recreation Fund or the General
Fund.
the school's perspective,
from
Mike Hughes Indicated Lhat, ......
they would like to see a sidewalk on Mill Road built rather than
the bridge but that he would personally support the earliest
solution to the current problem. Mike also indicated that long
term maintenance is an issue with the bridge trailway.
Carol recommended that the City should maintain the option
by purchasing the lot now in case it would be needed later for
either a trail or water utility or both. The lot would also be
useful for a neighborhood park and provide public works access to
the creek and retaining ponds on the side.
Tina Vermeulen indicated that the purchase of the lot would
give the City the option to make the decisions later and that the
lot could be sold later if not needed.
4
