/ CONSULTING ENGINEERS
a i l Ida to Maier Stewart & Associates Inc.
March 5, 1993
File: 260 - 000 -00
Honorable Mayor and City Council
City Hall
1880 Main Street
Centerville, MN 55038
RE: CITY -WIDE PARK AND TRAIL PLAN
Dear Mayor Buckbee:
As requested by the City Administrator, we have met with Ms. Carol Zoff Pelton to discuss a
cooperative effort involving City staff, Ms. Pelton, and our firm to produce a Park and Trail
Plan for the City of Centerville.
It is our anticipation that the planning effort will provide the City with a document that identifies
the existing inventory of parks and trails, identifies future facilities (including sidewalk required
for safe school access), and provides a capital improvement component identifying City- induced
projects and funding sources.
It would seem that much of the planning and conceptual work can be accomplished under
Ms. Pelton's direction. She suggests in the attached memo that a. steering committee be formed
to oversee and expedite this effort.
Based upon Ms. Pelton's work plan, the project should be completed within a period of two
months. Our anticipation of the distribution of work effort is 60 hours of City staff, 80 hours
of Ms. Pelton's time and 42 hours of MSA service.
From Ms. Pelton's scope, we have estimated time to prepare six exhibits (24 hours) and to
attend two steering committee meetings (4 hours), plus 10 hours for preparing the cost and
financing component. We anticipate that our cost for assisting complete this project will not
exceed $2,700.
Please advise if you require further input on this issue.
Yours truly,
MAIER STEWART & ASSOCIATES, INC.
John .
