The committee requested Ms. Lien contact Mr. Quigley to inform him of the Parks and
Recreation Committee's intentions.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
September 6, 2000 Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes
Motion by Ms. DeVine, seconded by Mr. Peterson to approve the September 6, 2000
Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes with noted addition. All in
favor. Motion carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
Proposed Trail Map Discussion
Tabled
Informational Meeting for Skate Park / BMX Track for Parents and Youth
The committee discussed the "sample" flyers presented by Ms. Lien along with possible
dates and times to consider, and made the following motion:
Motion by Mr. Porter, seconded by Mr. Walter to have Ms. Lien distribute the flyer
to Centennial Middle School and Centerville Elementary School, to accept any
printing costs, and to publish the meeting in the LeJournal and the Quad
Community Press. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
Turf Update (Laurie LaMotte Park)
Mr. Peterson explained that he spoke with Valley Creek, regarding aerating the soil at
Laurie LaMotte Park. During their discussion, Mr. Peterson learned that Valley Creek
was already planning on aerating the soil at City Hall. Valley Creek was willing to aerate
the soil at Laurie LaMotte Park for $27.50 per hour (approximately six hours). After the
aeration had been complete, Mr. Peterson learned that Valley Creek spent two (2) days
aerating the soil at LaMotte Park. Due to the fact that the soil was so hard, they had to
aerate it twice. Even though Valley Creek spent two (2) days at LaMotte Park, they only
charged the City for six (6) hours of labor.
Tree Placement at Parks — Maps
Mr. Porter had visited the parks prior to the meeting to sketch out each of the parks
existing trees. The committee elected to roughly "plot out" the placement of the 20
Autumn Blaze Maple trees that Mr. Goetz is currently holding for the City. There will be
four (4) trees planted at both Royal Meadows and Tracie McBride Parks, and seven (7)
trees planted at both Acorn Creek and Laurie LaMotte Parks. Eagle Park will not receive
any of the Autumn Blaze trees. Mr. Porter will contact Mr. Goetz regarding the
installation of, and any suggestions he may have related to the trees and/or their
surroundings.
2
I I _
