Area N: Clearwater Creek Greenwav Corridor
A beautiful trail corridor where the land is not yet developed is Area N from Centerville along Clearwater
Creek to Bald Eagle Lake. Apparently there are already some proposals, one may be called the Greenway
Corridor. This connection would also provide a continuous trail from Hugo through Centerville and Lino
Lakes south to Bald Eagle Lake and the White Bear Lake area. Currently, the trail in Hugo is blocked to
the south because the railroad bed is still in use. The urgency here is to establish Clearwater Creek from
Centerville to Bald Eagle Lake as a Greenway Corridor with a trail. As development occurs, it will
eventually all fit together.
Summary
As a follow on to the Minnesota Design Team visit in Centerville, a "Trails, Parks, and Lakes" committee
formed and considered numerous alternatives. The plan described is the result of a year's worth of citizen
discussions and participation. The plan fits well with the existing plans of surrounding communities and
governmental units. (In Figure 1, the green dots along the roads show the Anoka County plan for trails — it
closely matches this plan.) It may not all happen at once, but by establishing a common vision, the entire
goal can be reached by staging the development.
