MEMO
Date: August 31, 2000
To: Chairperson Porter
Park and Recreation Committee
From: Jill Lien
Re: Eagle Park Sanitation Unit / Standards for Satellites
Included in your packet are copies of two (2) letters sent from Keith Okan to
Council Member Nelson. Also, is a copy of Council Member Nelson's request for
a response from Mr. Porter - as the Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee.
At the City Council meeting on August 2r, the Council elected to have Public
Works move the Eagle Park sanitation unit five (5) feet out from where it is
currently located. The Council felt the City should at least comply, or set, some
type of standard setback for sanitation units - which they have concluded to be five
(5) feet.
The City Council would like the Parks and Recreation Committee to establish
standards for satellites within the City (ie. placement, setbacks, cement base,
securing bolts, enclosures, landscape, etc.) and present a recommendation to them.
The Parks and Recreation Committee requested a copy of the current contract with
On -Site Sanitation. I have requested this from Ms. Bender, but have found out that
the City doesn't have a contract. It is billed monthly for the service.
Thank you!
