NOT APPROVED
PARK AND RECREATION
COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
March 1, 2000
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of
Centerville held their regularly scheduled meeting on March 1, 2000 at City Hall, 1880
Main Street. Chairperson Michael Navin called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m.
Present: Chairperson Michael Navin
Karla DeVine
Doug Porter (on speaker phone)
Absent: Steve Brown
Dale Larson
Staff: Jill Lien
Council Member Terry Sweeney (liaison)
ROLL CALL
Mr. Wayne LeBlanc and Mr. Tedd Peterson were both present to express their interest in
filling the vacant position on the Park and Recreation Committee.
APPEARANCES
Mr. Pat Mahr of the Centennial Lakes Little League presented a plaque to the Park and
Recreation Committee to show the Little League's appreciation for the use of the ball
fields. Mr. Mahr mentioned that the Little League wasn't able to use the ball fields at
Laurie LaMotte Park last year, but are ready to use it this year. With the ability to use the
ball fields at Laurie LaMotte Park, Mr. Mahr anticipated the use of six (6) ball fields this
year. Mr. Mahr explained that the Centennial Lakes Little League is planning a "Park
Clean-up Day" on Saturday, April 15 from 8:30 — 12:00. After the parks have been
cleaned up, there will be a potluck picnic at the Lexington Park. All are welcome to
attend. The Little League will begin using the fields the first week of May. Mr. Mahr
will forward copies of the game schedules to the City so Public Works will know the
schedule for field grooming purposes.
Mr. Navin mentioned that the Park and Recreation Committee is currently planning a
dedication for Laurie LaMotte Park around the beginning of June. Mr. Navin asked Mr.
Mahr if the Little League would be willing to participate in the festivities. Mr. Navin will
also check with Dave Knolan who is the president of the soccer club to see if he would be
willing to help out with the coordination of the dedication.
1
