Problems/Suggestions <br /> aestions <br /> • Shoreview's Park Maintenance spends 1 — 2 hours per day cleaning up the <br /> park <br /> • Kids do not like to clean up <br /> • Skates in Community Center <br /> • Vandalism <br /> • Up to 100 — 200 kids in attendance per day <br /> • Strongly recommends offering food and/or concessions (kids spend a lot <br /> of money on food) <br /> • Install an eight (8) foot fence instead of four (4) feet — better for security <br /> • Hire a staff attendant <br /> Police Concerns/Law Enforcement Standpoint <br /> I spoke with Deputy Joel Paget of the Sheriff's Department's Community Resource Unit <br /> to find out any concerns or problems the Sheriff s Department may have encountered. <br /> Deputy Paget shared the following concerns with me: <br /> • Smoking <br /> • Disorderly conduct <br /> • Graffiti <br /> • Damage to property <br /> • Increase of problems in area <br /> • Not much bodily injury to date <br /> • Cannot require mandatory helmets (Tier I) <br /> • Kids come from all over (other communities) <br /> • Park Supervisor has called the Sheriff s Dept. looking for additional help <br /> • Common Affairs Dept. "tours" the area more frequently <br /> • Skate park is located behind a building — out of view from residents and <br /> businesses which makes it difficult to monitor — a "key factor" would be <br /> to recommend placing the park in a "visable" area <br /> • Recommends hiring an attendant <br /> • Recommends charging fees <br /> • Recommends extra thought on management and location <br /> City of Roseville <br /> Lonnie Brokke — Assistant Park Director <br /> • Tier II Park <br /> • Haven't had one problem with the park or kids at park <br /> • Only has good things to say about the park <br /> • Offer several activities (i.e.: speed series on in -lines and much more) <br /> • Very aggressive skate park with % and 'A Pikes <br /> • Fence enclosure <br /> • Used by skateboards, in -line skates and bikes <br /> 3 <br />
