They are going to hold the
applications over for next year's funding cycle.
* The Business Appreciation Dinner was another success. Thank you to EDC for
sponsoring this event.
* I spoke to John Harper (Senior Project Administrator, Met Council Transportation &
Transit Development) this morning. I informed Mr. Harper that the City Council had
authorized the Park and Ride location formerly located at Tom Thumb to be temporarily
moved to the current public works site. Mr. Harper indicated that they would transition to
the public works site beginning on June 5, 2000. Mr. Harper also mentioned that he had
spoke to Joanne Baron who is coordinating the Livable Communities Act Demonstration
Grant Program. Council approved submittal of a preliminary application to this program. If
awarded, the grant would assist the City with downtown redevelopment efforts. Ms.
Baron told Mr. Harper that a member of the grant review board would be from the
transportation department. Mr. Harper indicated that he is also personally sending Ms.
Baron an e-mail for her to place in our file supporting our grant request. This inside
support for our application could be critical.
* Architectural plans for the new County Bank in Centerville were received this week. This
5/26/00
