An additional public hearing is required by law, since
changes were made to the Ordinance since the last public hearing. This public hearing will
be held on June 28th. The final draft Ordinance will be approved at the next meeting.
The Ordinance could be adopted on June 28th.
* The playground equipment was successfully installed at Royal Meadows Park on
Saturday morning. The fibar base is supposed to arrive this morning and will be installed
by public works. There were approximately fifteen volunteers that showed up for various
lengths of time to help bring the project to completion. The park and recreation committee
will be sending a thank you to all of those that helped.
* I met with some potential developer's for the Gor -em property this week. The property is
located on the east side of Centerville Road across from the proposed Hunter's Crossing
subdivision. They do not have any particular design concepts in mind for this property. As
a side note, I explained the downtown revitalization grant request to these developers.
They have worked in partnerships with others to develop mixed -use buildings. They
indicated that if the City received a grant they would be interested in submitting a proposal.
* I called the Met Council this morning to find out the number of applicants for the Livable
Communities Act Demonstration Grant Program. I spoke to Barbara Engstrom in regards to
our application. Barbara said that they received numerous proposals. Several proposals
did not meet their threshold criteria. There were 46 applications that did meet the threshold
criteria and that would be forwarded to the review committee. Centerville's application will
be going forward for review. The 46 applications that will be reviewed are requesting in
excess of $40,000,000. There are 19 applications in our category. The Met Council has a
total of $9,900,000 to award. We will have to keep our fingers crossed.
6/9/00
