Since the committee is unaware of Mr. Larson's intentions, Mr. Porter volunteered to
take over the tree and satellite goals.
Ms. Lien explained she had received several comments relating to the two (2) parks that
do not have satellites. More specifically, all parks should have a satellite.
Motion by Mr. Navin, seconded by Ms. DeVine to place satellites at the two (2)
remaining parks (Eagle and Royal Meadows Parks); to include satellites at all parks
in Centerville. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Navin directed staff to write a letter to Mr. Larson requesting his intent regarding his
position on the Parks and Recreation Committee.
Lawn Care/Turf:
Mr. Navin felt a full application of weed control is necessary at Laurie LaMotte Park.
Mr. Sweeney felt additional seed is also needed at LaMotte Park. Ms. DeVine mentioned
Royal Meadows Park also needs seed around the boarder of the new play area.
Mr. Navin will speak with Mr. Palzer regarding the turf at all of the parks.
Trail (Laurie LaMotte Park):
Mr. Navin explained that the trail is getting a lot of use by Centerville and Lino Lakes
residents.
Curb and Gutter (Laurie LaMotte Park):
Mr. Sweeney explained the City is trying to work "piggy back" with Lino Lakes'
contractor that is already working there. Mr. Navin will discuss further with Mr. Palzer.
Benches/Tables/Trash Receptacles:
Mr. Porter shared that the benches, tables and trash receptacles have all been delivered
with the Royal Meadows Park equipment. They are currently being stored at the old
Barrett garage. He will coordinate the placement of each with the Public Works
Department. Mr. Porter reported that most of the budget for these items has been spent.
General Lighting:
Mr. LeBlanc explained that he had been in contact with several other communities
regarding the lighting of their trail systems. Most of the communities do not light their
trails, with the exception of one, which only lights for cross - country skiing. Mr. LeBlanc
recommends not lighting the trail system due to the expense, maintenance and upkeep
involved, but rather, use the budgeted amount to offset the costs of relocating the lights
donated from Mr. DeFoe.
Mr. Peterson mentioned that the pleasure rink only has one (1) light, and felt it could use
additional lighting.
4
