Jim March
To: Jim Hoeft; Brian Hanson; City Council; Dave Italian; Doug Porten Elizabeth Scheller; John McLean;
Lori Dom; Mary Capra; Michelle Moser, Ray Devine; Theresa Brennen Tom Peterson
Subject: Week in Review
Week in Review
February 18, 2000
Building Permits this Period = 1
Building Permits YTD = 9
New Homes Year to Date = 3
* Attention!! I have one Centerville Lion's Cadillac Dinner ticket remaining for the event to
be held at the Hugo Legion tomorrow evening. If you are interested in coming to this fun
event, please give me an immediate call for details.
* We received our second half SCORE reimbursement from Anoka County. This payment
partially reimburses the City in our efforts for promoting recycling in the community. The
payment was $3,040.
* Paul Palzer and I completed the walk -thru of the Eagle Trucking building on Monday.
There are numerous items of personal property that Mr. Hubers is willing to leave with the
building that would be a benefit to the public works department. I would encourage
Council members to walk through the building prior to the Council meeting. Mr. Hubers is
willing to provide tours as long as you call ahead first. The tours can be arranged any time
during normal business hours. I can arrange a common time or times can be scheduled
individually on your own. A revised purchase agreement will be discussed at our next
meeting.
* The realtor representing Socrates Babacus stopped at City Hall again on Wednesday
afternoon. Mr. Vincent indicated that title work is being done on the Rehbein property that
they are interested in purchasing. This would be the proposed site for the retractable roof
"Star Dome ". Mr. Vincent indicated that Braun Intertec has been retained to perform soil
borings. KKE architects of Minneapolis has been retained to complete the preliminary
master plan. A check for $500,000 has been ordered for the escrow account of Lino
Lakes. They plan to meet with Lino Lakes in two weeks. Socrates Babacus is due back in
the area on March 10th. Mr. Vincent indicated that they have pulled their options off of the
other sites that they were exploring. Mr. Vincent seems very confident that this stadium will
be built. He also stated that if Lino Lakes even hints of any potential lack of desire for the
stadium, Socrates will drop the deal. In my opinion, this proposal still seems like an
extreme long shot. A breakfast meeting has been scheduled for March 1st with Lino Lakes
City Council, Centerville City Council, Anoka County Commissioner Margaret Langfeld and
2/18/00
