other County staff to discuss our strategy for dealing with the stadium proposal and other
common community issues.
* Only one proposal was received for redeveloping the public works site. This proposal
came from St. Genevieve's church. They are offering to remove the current buildings and
pay the City $25,000 for the property.
If the City moves forward with the purchase of Eagle Trucking for a public works site, I
would rather see the City consider leasing the property for parking rather than sell the
property at this time. I think that we are probably 1.5 to 2 years too early for the type of
redevelopment that we would like to see on this site.
I did speak to a buyer for Casey's General Stores that was going to offer $150,000 for the
site for a new convenience store, but he could not get corporate approval for the location.
The corporate offices have approved the location south of Willow Glen for a new store. 1
am not sure Gerald Rehbein wants to sell off another small piece of this property. 1 am not
convinced that we really need another convenience store in the community. If the first
phase of the downtown redevelopment moves forward, this would enhance the viability of
selling the public works site in the future.
* City Hall will be closed on Monday in observance of President's Day. Enjoy your
weekend!
2/18/00
L
