■
Snowmobile Public Hearing
Mayor Wilharber opened the Snowmobile Public Hearing by stressing that this is
just a public hearing to voice concerns and opinions related to snowmobiles. The
intent of the meeting is not to ban snowmobiles, but to get citizen involvement
and educate the residents of Centerville. Mayor Wilharber explained that riders
of snowmobiles must take the responsibility to learn and understand the
snowmobile laws. The council is looking for solutions on how to correct the
problems of trespassing; lack of respect; damage to property; endangerment of
children, pets and vehicles; speeding; drinking; after hour usage; underage usage;
and operating to close to homes, businesses and the church. Mayor Wilharber
turned the discussion over to Police Chief Joel Heckman for the views and
comments of the Police Department.
Chief Heckman explained that riders must be responsible for knowing and
abiding the laws of any City and State in which they ride.
