* I received a call from Greg Owens (President of the County Bank) yesterday. They are
continuing to work on the proposed bank branch for the intersection of 21st Avenue and
Main Street. Greg said that Shea Architects is working on the plans and they are aware
9 9 p
that we want to build an entrance monument into the community on their property and they
want to assist us in that task. Greg said that they have moved this issue to the front burner
and he has a meeting arranged with the bank owner on April 14th to further discuss the
matter. He plans to call me in a couple of weeks to give me the latest status report. Greg
was in attendance at the stadium meeting and he indicated that he felt that the developer
was not legitimate.
* I spoke to County Assessor Todd Smith this week. The Board of Review is scheduled for
6:00 at our Council meeting next week. Todd indicated that he normally receives 50 -70
calls per year on this issue from Centerville and Lino Lakes residents. This year he has
only received 14 calls, two from Centerville. Todd will have his laptop computer with him at
the meeting and will use our Taxsys software to connect to the Anoka County records
system. The purpose of the Board of Review is to hear from residents that think that their
property valuation is too high. The valuations have not been keeping the pace with the
actual fair market values of the properties, so I am not expecting much of a turnout to the
meeting.
9
* Enjoy your weekend!
4/7/00
