Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 01 -06 -10 III. APPEARANCES Mr. Mathew Neutkens, Troop 151 from Hugo, made an appearance to update the committee on his progress installing bluebird houses in the City parks. He reported he is ahnost finished, the poles are in the ground and Sunday, January 14th his group will be putting the birdhouses up. Mr. Neutkens arranged to meet with Committee Member Amundsen to have him sign off that work has been completed. He will have installed 20 bluebird houses — 2 in Hidden Spring Park and 18 in Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park around the perimeter. IV. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES December 2, 2009 Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes Motion was made by Committee Member Grahek, seconded by Vice - Chairperson Selander, to approve the December 2, 2009 Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes as is. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS 2010 Chairperson and Vice - Chairperson Positions Chairperson Seeley discussed the benefits of rotating Chairperson and Vice - Chairperson positions within the committee as being advantageous for different perspectives and giving other people the option to lead. Mayor Capra discussed becoming familiar with Robert's Rules of Order and asked Ms. Stephan to supply the committee with information. Chairperson Seeley nominated Committee Member Branch as Chaiipelson. After some discussion as to responsibilities and availability Committee Member Amundsen nominated Committee Member Jon Grahek as Vice - Chairperson with Committee Member Mark Haiden as Alternate or Co- Vice - Chairperson. Motion will be made at the end of this meeting. 2010 Fete des Lacs 8K Run Proposal (P. Branchl Scheduling of Parade, 8K Run, Lion's Street Dance & Softball Tournament 2010 The following email correspondence regarding Fete des Lacs 2010 was sent by Lion Greg Keiselhorst: We 've made some decisions as a Club. As mentioned top priority for us was doing the Softball Tournament in 2010. Softball Chair Lion Todd Steffen set July 30, 31 and August 1 as our best dates. We 're running with those and have all ready received good feedback from past Teams. We 're now set to do a Street Dance on Saturday July 31" and we have booked the Band, The Pearl. Being that there is no City Financial Assistance to ask for other than the Parade, we '11 be renting a smaller tent on the Hockey Rink this coming year. (Just big enough to cover the Stage, Band and Equipment.) We '11 be renting Sanitation, Tables, and Chairs for these Events; on a smaller scale from years past We'll be doing our normal Concessions for these Events. As of today, that is all that is planned by the Lions Club and probably will be all that we do for the Festival. 2 of 4
